2023-24 Meetings & Events

Meetings regularly on first Fridays, except for September. Time 12:30-1:45

September 8: New & returning member lunchtime social @ Harrington Park Pavilion (401 W. 16th St., Plano — highly encouraged, but not mandatory). Feel free to arrive as early as 12:15. Bring a chair and lunch.

September 15: First Meeting, Allen Library, 300 N. Allen Drive, in the meeting room

October 20: Group Service Project (Richardson) – Members receive double service hours (Highly encouraged attendance, but not mandatory to attend). Advanced registration and completed permission form required.

November 3: General Meeting, Hall Library, 101 E. Hunt St., McKinney in the Dulaney Room

December 8: Social, Truitt’s house

January 5: General Meeting, College Panel, Allen Library, 300 N. Allen Dr., in the meeting room

January 12: Group Service Project at the North Texas Food Bank; 3677 Mapleshade Lane, Plano – Members receive double service hours (Highly encouraged, but not mandatory to attend). Advanced registration and completed permission form required.

February 2: General Meeting, Allen Library, 300 N. Allen Dr., in the meeting room

March 1: General Meeting, Allen Library, 300 N. Allen Dr., in the meeting room

April 12: End of year luncheon 12:15-2 @ Olive Garden (700 N. Central Expressway, Plano); recognition of outgoing & incoming officers, Presidential Volunteer Service Award recipients & graduating seniors

January 6: General Meeting, Allen Library, 12:30-1:45, College Panel

January 27: Group Service Project: Feed My Starving Children (Richardson), 11:30-1:15. Members receive double service hours (highly encouraged, but not mandatory)

February 3: General Meeting @ Allen Library, 12:30-1:45; speaker: Jim Yarbrough – “making wise career choices”

March 3: General Meeting @ Allen Library; Senior Panel & 2023-24 officer elections

April 21: End of year luncheon @ Olive Garden (Plano); recognition of outgoing & incoming officers, Presidential Volunteer Service Award recipients & graduating seniors

November 5: General meeting at Schimelpfenig Library (Plano) ; speaker: Chad Simpson, VP of Sales, G&A Partners

December 3: Christmas Party @ Hoblitzelle Park (Plano) (Highly encouraged, not mandatory)

January 7: Group service project at Feed My Starving Children (Richardson) from 1-3pm. Double Service hours; highly encouraged, but not mandatory.

January 15: General meeting, College Panel; if 22 service hours completed, submit logs for 3 bonus hours

February 4: General meeting, 2022-23 Officer self-nominations accepted

March 4: Last General meeting

March 31: If applicable, last day to do Presidential Service Award Hours; Service logs for this due April 8

April 8: Tentative End-of-Year luncheon, last day to turn in ESA Service Hour logs (luncheon is not mandatory)

2020-21  Meetings & Events:

Our meetings are normally the first Friday of the month, except for September.  During this anticipated year of Covid restrictions, we are striving to maintain that schedule.

November 6: Group service project, 12-2pm; Feed My Starving Children (Richardson)

January 8: Group Service Project 12-2 (regular meeting location -Holy Nativity Church)

January 15: Zoom & in-person Meeting; panel of ESA grads now in college or working

February 5: Zoom & in-person Meeting – Career Panel;  2021-22 Officer self-nominations accepted

March 5: Zoom & in-person Meeting – Pizza lunch & Graduating Senior Panel; Officer Elections

April 16: Year-end Luncheon @ south Plano Olive Garden; announce 2021-22 Officers

2019-20 Meetings & Events:

September 20: First Meeting Meet-n-Greet! Bunco & snacks at the Harrington Library; 12:30-2 pm. ESA T-shirts given to new members (& returning members who need one)

October 4 : Group Service Project at Feed My Starving Children (Richardson) from 2:30-4:30. Double service hours granted – wear your t-shirts!

November 1: MEETING LOCATION CHANGE! Due to Early Elections taking place at the Plano libraries, our regular meeting will be held down the street (east) from the Harrington Library at Holy Nativity Episcopal Church, 2200 18th St., Plano (Career Panel)

January 3 or 10: Christmas Break group service project; looking at a City of Plano Clean-up day project.  Double service hours granted – wear your t-shirts!

January 17: Regular meeting at new regular location: Holy Nativity Church. Speaker from Collin College on dual credit, college admissions of all kinds, utilizing Collin mini-mesters/summer sessions while attending another college

February 7: Regular meeting at Holy Nativity Church; speaker: Salli Whittaker of One Path Career Consulting. Nominations open for 2020-21 Officer slate

March 6: Meeting at Holy Nativity Church – Officer elections/Senior updates/games

April 3 or 17: Year-end luncheon at Macaroni Grill, Plano (Central Expressway)

2018-19 Meetings & Events:

September 14: Meet-n-Greet Bunko/snacks at private home (McKinney);  12:30-2:30. Returning members, please bring a hearty snack to share!  The address will be in the email meeting reminder.

October 12: Service Project at Heritage Farmstead, provided lunch;  11:30-1:30

November 2: Career Panel (Library)

December 8: Christmas Party, time/location via email

January 4: College Panel (Library)

February 1: Collin County Judge, Chris Hill (Collin County Courthouse, McKinney)

March 1: Senior Updates/Officer Elections/Games (Library)

April 12: Annual year-end Luncheon @ Macaroni Grill, Central Expressway, Plano

2017-18 Meetings & Events:

September 22nd – Bunko/Game night at private home (McKinney)

October 6th – Service Project at Heritage Farmstead and then pizza lunch provided by ESA

November 3rd – Erika Dietz from College Prep strategies will speak

December 16th – ESA Christmas Party at private Home (Farmersville) (on Saturday from 5-8 pm)

January 5th – North Texas Food Bank Service Project 12:45 – 3:30 pm

February 2nd – the annual college/career panel

March 2nd – Senior Updates/Officer Elections; Speaker – Princeton Review ACT/SAT prep

April 13th – Annual end-of-year luncheon at Buca de Beppo in Frisco (11:30-1)

2016-17 Meetings & Events:

September 16th – welcome, announcements, officer introductions, distribution of club T-shirts, ice breaker games (with prizes!) and mingling

November 4th – counselor and author Mr. Bob Hornstein will speak on interpersonal relationships

January 6th – the annual college panel – home school graduates will give advice about college life

February 3rd – Mrs. Salli Whitaker will talk about personality types and choosing a career

March 3rd – packing donations from our food drive, followed by member evaluations, elections, and an outdoor game with refreshments

Other activities:

October 7, 10 am-12 pm – group service project at Heritage Farmstead Museum, followed by group lunch at Eddy’s Pizza

December 2, 12:15 pm-1:30 – Christmas party and gift exchange (see your invitation for more details)

Spring group service project will be an ongoing food drive. Further details will be provided.

April 7, 11:30 am-1:00 pm, at Buca di Beppo in Frisco – end-of-year luncheon, presentation of Senior gifts, and Seniors will share what their future plans are

2015-16 Meetings & Events:

January 8th – the annual college panel – home school graduates will give advice about college life

February 4th – Collin College Communications Professor Jenny Warren will discuss strategies for effective resumes, interviews, and interpersonal communication

March 4th – Mr. Jim Middlebrooks, CFP, will speak about personality types and give us personality testing, followed by member evaluations, elections, and an outdoor game with refreshments

Other activities:

October 9 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM – group service project at Heritage Farmstead Museum, followed by lunch at Eddy’s Pizza

December 12 7:30-9:30 – Christmas party and gift exchange (see your invitation for more details)

February 13 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM – Spring group service project
