President’s Volunteer Service Award

We are proud to serve as a certifying organization for the President’s Volunteer Service Award: https://www.presidentialserviceawards.gov/

In 2003, the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation founded the President’s Volunteer Service Award to recognize the important role of volunteers in America’s strength and national identity. This award honors individuals whose service positively impacts communities in every corner of the nation and inspires those around them to take action, too.

Led by the Corporation for National and Community Service and managed in partnership with Points of Light, this program allows Certifying Organizations to recognize their most exceptional volunteers.

Below are the levels for the award:

Teens (age 11-15)

  • Bronze: 50-74 hours
  • Silver: 75-99 hours
  • Gold: 100+ hours

Young Adults (age 16-25)

  • Bronze: 100-174 hours
  • Silver: 175-249 hours
  • Gold: 250+ hours

The age group your are in is determined by how old you were for 7 months of the eligibility year (4/1-3/31). Those who are 16 by September 1, are considered to be in the Young Adult category. All chapter members are eligible to strive for this award each year.

Our chapter pays for the awards that are given out to members who receive this prestigious award. Members receiving this award will be announced at the April Luncheon. First time award recipients will receive a certificate & medallion. If a member receives succeeding awards in another year(s), they will receive a certificate & a pin. Both are appropriate to wear with a graduation gown, no matter when the awards were earned. Awards will be delivered in early May.

Members who are interested in trying to qualify for this recognition will need to complete the Affirmation of Eligibility Form, log hours on the appropriate form (below) and submit these to the PVSA adult coordinator by April 1.
